In a video advert that floats around YouTube, the Zune is promoted. Not only as a multimedia player, but also as a 3D handheld gaming devices. The only question is, will it sell enough?
At the moment, Microsoft holds just over 1% of the total MP3 player market world-wide. This is partly because the Zune is not being sold outside Microsotft's main market, the US. This means game developers might have to work with low download volumes when they create mobile games for the device. Unless the device allows an easy port from (for example) Windows Mobile, it might even mean that the device isn't interesting at all for the biggest part of the game development community and in that case, it might increase the distance between Zune and iPod.
