While the ZeeMote was officially launched last week at the Mobile World Congress, Today at the Game Developer Congress, ZeeMote released the Developer Program and SDK for the device.
With the release of the developer program and the ZeeMote SDK, developers can now start building device support for the ZeeMote into their mobile games. Various studios like SEGA and Eidos already started implementing ZeeMore support into their mobile games and Finblade even created a ZeeMote only game called Fireworks.
“Zeemote opens a new avenue for our games by expanding our developers’ potential beyond the constraints of the limited D-pad,” said John Chasey, CEO and founder, Finblade. “Developing with the Zeemote SDK has been incredibly liberating because we can create mobile games that easily appeal to both gaming enthusiasts and new fans.”
“We’re excited about helping developers unleash their creativity to finally make mobile games a comfortable and immersive experience that lives up to their full potential,” said Beth Marcus, CEO, Zeemote, Inc. “We created this program to help our partners make their games Zeemote Ready within hours. The exciting tactile experience of the JS1 controller in the hands of consumers will increase awareness for our partners and their games generating more revenue with existing customers and attracting new ones as well.”
The Zeemote SDK for Java ME Version 1.0.0 includes: Programmer’s Guide, Javadoc API documentation, Java libraries, and two sample applications with source code. Target mobile phones must be Bluetooth enabled and support JSR-82, the Java API for Bluetooth, in order to use the SDK. Additional OS versions are under development and announcements are forthcoming. The developer program and SDK can be found at www.zeemote.com/developers.html
