Russian developer/journalist Eldar Murtazin has managed to get hold of a Phone containing an early Windows Mobile 7 build. According to his first tests, the device is not able to run 6.x software.
That means Windows Mobile 7 is probably not backward compatible. The journalist thinks this is because the OS has been rebuild from scratch. He also noted that the GUI has had a big makeover and support horizontal scrolling, similar to the iPhone and Android.
Windows Mobile 7 is still expected this year. Many sources claim March will see the first devices hit the market. More information should come from the Mobile World Congress early February.
