Microsoft has announced that users of Windows 6.0 and 6.1 will be enjoying the launch of Windows Marketplace sooner then expected. They will see it enabled along November.
What Microsoft did not say however is how users will get Marketplace on their devices. One os the big success factors for the App Store was full integration via a firmware update. To Windows Mobile users, firmware upgrades are something they are not familiar with.
For users of Windows Mobile 6.5, the marketplace will be opening it's doors tomorrow. That is the first day phones with the OS will be sold. Windows Marketplace will be available in 30 countries. Pricing of the apps on it will range from 99 cents to $499.
Hopefully Windows has enough tech to conteract the dominance of the iPhone in the phone market.
