Windows 7 Core goes Mobile

February 25th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Windows Mobile | No Comments »

Microsoft
Windows Mobile is known as one of the more intensive mobile operating systems as it requires a lot of memory and processing power to fulfil it's tasks. With Windows Mobile, the hardware requirement might go up even more.

According to Microsoft's Steve Ballmer, the new Windows Mobile 7 will include the kernel of Windows 7 itself. The whole new generation of the mobile OS will be built on this kernel. Through this strategy, Microsoft hopes to shrink the gap between the two operating systems.

In the conference call, Steve Ballmer confirms that Windows Mobile 7 will indeed be available in 2010 and that the first 6.5 phones will hit the streets by the end of the summer. In-line with what we reported before.
