Warner Bros Turns Movies into Apps

February 16th, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

What do you do it Apple doesn’t offer subscriptions? You build an app for that (and get booted from the app store). What do you do if Apple doesn’t allow you to launch movies in all regions? You build an app for that.

Warner Bros announced the launch of their App Editions. App Editions are movies packaged into an applications that allows viewers to skip through movies as if they are an interactive experience. Switching between subtitles is as easy as it is to watch DVD’s and it is even possible to leave you comments in certain parts of the movies and to share them with your friends.

The app editions come as free downloads with 5 minutes of the movies. The full movies are unlocked through in-app payments and can be downloaded or streamed.
