The soap surrounding SCI / Eidos seems to continue, though finally good things seem to happen again as Warner Bros. bought itself into the company.
There where a lot of rumours around Warner Bros.’ and other parties that would be interested in acquiring SCI. Now the news about this strategic partnership is finally out in the open.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has bought $ 30 million worth of SCI shares. With the purchase, Warner Bros. gained exclusive distribution rights for the US, Canada and Mexico.
With the fresh money from Warner, and successes in cutting costs, the company is confident again in it’s future.
I woulnd’t be surprised if Warner Bros ended up looking to capitalize on even more of the market with buyouts.
