Vodafone’s Test Lab: BetaVine

February 3rd, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Distribution | 1 Comment »

Vodafone
We are not entirely sure if this is the App Store that is being launched in The Netherlands, but it is already live on Vodafone Germany. We are talking about Vodafone's 2 year old testing ground called BetaVine.

On the betavine.mobi site, consumers can download free mobile applications and games, but are required to provide feedback about the quality and stability of them. Interestingly enough, the site is not really Vodafone branded, and with my Dutch T-Mobile sim, I have no problem entering and using the site.

“betavine.mobi is part of the Betavine project created by Vodafone Group R&D. Betavine is an open website that encourages developers to upload beta mobile applications via betavine.net in order to get feedback and make improvements.”

    1. I just took a look at it but it seems like a bit of a waste of time from my point of view? i.e. if there is no money in it, it’s a waste of time.
