Vodafone NL is launching their Application Manager on February 4th. This “App Store” alik portal allows developers of mobile games and applications to offer their creations for free to the public. A commercial and global launch is unsure.
This news comes directly from Vodafone NL's Joost Galema who talked to Dutch tech site Tweakers.net. He confirms that Vodafone is not directly interested in asking consumers to pay for mobile games and applications. In stead, the operator just hopes to improve the consumer experience and data uptake. It is not clear yet if this portal will be rolled out on other Vodafone carriers yet.
To promote the service, the portal will be available directly in the Vodafone Live portal and consumers can also send a direct link by SMS for free.
