Vivian Reding: Many Android Apps are Illegal

March 5th, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Current Affairs | No Comments »

EU commissioner Viviane Reding exposed to Channel 4 (UK) that many Android apps are not in line with European laws as they leak private data from Android users to advertisers.

She explains concerns on the amount of private data developers expose to advertisers. The data provided is used by many advertisers to profile consumers with the goal of optimizing the amount of clicks. It’s not clear if Viviane (who is known for chasing up big corporations) will be taking action.
