Vision Mobile has sent out an enquiery to 400 developers to track their thoughts on all those different mobile development platforms out there. It turns out Android is the most popular of them.
Around 60% of mobile developers have been playing around with the Android SDK while about 50% of them played with the iOS SDK. Suprisingly, Java ME ranks third. The least popular platforms are PalmOS and WebOS with an interest of about 5%.
The most important reasons for developers to switch to a certain platform are market penetration, revenue potential and the possibility to support direct publishing.
