At the Verizon Developer Conference, Verizon's business developer Ryan Hughes outlined a number of perks for developers that will use Verizon's platform to sell their games and apps.
The operator will start by providing developers direct billing access. This means developers don't have to mess around with credit cards. Developers will also have access to the identity of the phone owner and it's location. The approval process will also be updated in the hope to decrease waiting times.
To support the developers, Verizon will apply these perks for their new 'app stores' for which the final name is still unknown. They will first launch on BlackBerry and Windows Mobile.
With over 86 Million subscribers, Verizon is without doubt one of the biggest channels to sell mobile games. on. This step from the company confirms it remains committed to selling them toward their consumers, but also shows that Verizon is aware about the competition from hardware vendors.
