Verizon Joins JIL

April 2nd, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Development Platforms | No Comments »

Verizon
Verizon is joining the Joint Innovation Lab. This initiative (which has been started by Vodafone, Softbank and Chine Mobile) is focusing at developing a global widget platform in the hope to create on standard for all OS’s.

Though wigets are not a common platform for the mobile games industry, companies like Digital Chocolate have been making clever use of them by launching stripped versions of their mobile games on them for promotion.

By joining the initiative, Verizon (which is partly owned by Vodafone) adds another big group of consumers to increase the footprint of these widgets.
