UPC, one of the cable TV and Internet giants in The Netherlands, announced its retreat from the mobile virtual network operator market.
The MVNO business was important to the company as mobile was the only mission communication service in it’s portfolio. Following just a few years of business, the company no longer sees an interesting business model in it. All current UPC customers will be switched to T-Mobile over the next weeks.
UPC is however bidding for various UMTS spectrum licenses. Though the company says it is not interested in a traditional operator model, it is expected that it will take its internet services mobile.
Congratulations
