BBC reports that not only the US government is hitting it off with the iPhone. The UK government (that just announced a lot of budget costs) is spending tens of thousands of pounds on iPhone development as well.
The average government app costs between £10,000 and £40,000. Amongst the apps are tools to search for a new job and (just like in the US App Store) a travel advice. The Home Office department also has some apps in development (or even distribution) but is not providing any information on those due to security concerns.
The total costs of app development in the UK haven’t been exposed, but it is known that the government spent £126.000.000 on 820 websites from 2009 to 2010.
