Following the release of their own iPhone app, Twitter has now launched the same on Android. Just like on the iPhone, it will sit there comfortably between competitors who have been on the Android Market much longer.
The app has been designed and developers in cooperation with Google’s Android team to make sure the user experience is optimal for the platform. Another result of this cooperation is that Twitter and Google will be sharing the code under an open source license.
The official Twitter app is available for Android 2.1 and up, which is about a quarter of the handsets on the market today.
