Japan based augmented reality specialist Tonchidot has closed a $12 million funding round. Funding came from both existing investors as well as KDDI, Recruit, SpiRE and Jafco.
Tonchidot, which develops augmented reality apps for iPhone and Android, will use the financing to expand outside of Japan. Tonchidot also launched an AR platform called Solar, which other developers can use in their apps. The platform can be compared to Layar.
