THQ Wireless has announced the full scale use of the Cell Weaver game engine which came along with their acquisition of developer Universomo a few months ago.
The Cell Weaver engine claims to be useful over several genres which hints that it is probably a modular engine aimed at inserting functionality into the games it supports. The first games supporting Cell Weaver will see the light along spring 2008. The press release doesn’t state if the (J2me) technology will also be used by other studios that develop for THQ Wireless.
"Universomo’s Cell Weaver game technology is a versatile application for game design enabling the most sophisticated game design solutions," offered Adam Comisky, international VP of THQ Wireless. "Cell Weaver will provide the mobile game player with fast, simplistic functionality for lightning speed, fun gameplay."
Congratulations
