TF: Microsoft’s Mobile Surface

March 3rd, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Analysis & Editorial | No Comments »

Microsoft Microsoft has demonstrated an early version of a mobile version of their Surface PC. The mobile surface computer is actually a mobile phone combined with a camera and a pico projector.

With this setup, surface computing (and gaming) will become much cheaper as consumers don’t have to lorry around with a huge projection table. Though this setup allows you to create a surface experience on any surface, it also brings a problem as the camera would register your gestures top-down. Not only will your fingers block the view, but your fingers are much bigger then they are close to the camera.

The first consumer friendly version of the Mobile Surface is expected to launch in 2011.
