IDC: 371.8 Million Mobile Sold in Q1

Analysts from IDC calculated that 371.8 million phones have been sold in the first quarter of 2011. That’s a plus of 20% year-on-year. Nokia, Samsung, Apple, LG and ZTE dominate the charts.

Microsoft’s Brandon Watson posted some interesting numbers on Windows Phone 7, that turned one year old today. The SDK has been downloaded 1.5 million times and 36.000 developers subscribed to AppHub.

90% of Dutch Apps Paid Through operator Billing

On an average day, Dutch consumers download 40.000 apps from Nokia’s Ovi Store. 90% of the paid apps are charged over the phone bill of the consumer proofing the importance of easy billing in this territory.

Apple’s Stats

Mobclix: 6/23 iPhone Apps are Fully iPad Compatible

Though all iPhone apps can be ran on the iPad, only 6 out of 23 apps consist of a dedicated layout that is optimized for the iPad’s screen size. The company also revealed some other demographics.

NPD: Android Takes the Lead, Google: 200.000 New Androids a Day

NPD has announced that Android is the leading platform in the US. Google’s Eric Schmidt announced that the company is currently registering 200.000 new Android phones a day.

Ovi Stats Update

Ovi Currently, Ovi is generating over 1.6 million downloads a day and the store is backed by developers from 80 countries. Nokia’s Ovi Store supports over 100 devices of which over 60 are Symbian based.
