Rovio has done it. In October, the company announced their plans to reach a hundred million downloads for the Angry Birds brand. Now, in March the company announced that milestone has been reached.

Rovio has closed a series A funding round and managed to pull in $42 million in fresh capital. The funding round was lead by Accel Partners and Atomico Ventures.

Angry Birds to hit Facebook

While Angry Birds just passed 30 million downloads on Android, Rovio has announced the game will make it’s way onto Facebook. This will be the first real ‘social’ move for the franchise.

Rovio Preparing for Massive Console Development

Rovio has hired Petri Järvilehto, developer of the Max Payne and Alan Wake franchises as Senior Vice President of Console Development. His task it to setup console development teams for the Angry Birds franchise.

Rovio and Mattel Strike Deal on Angry Birds Board Game

Rovio Launches Angry Birds Free on App Store

Rovio has launched a new free version of Angry Birds on Apple’s App Store. The title competes directly with the Angry Birds and Angry Birds Lite versions licensed to EA owned publisher Chillingo.
