Nielsen: Consumers Download More Apps than Ever!

A new report from Nielsen shows consumers are downloading more apps than ever before. Currently, the average U.S. consumer has 41 apps installed. That’s 28% up from 32 apps a year before.

Nielsen: 49,7% of US Subs own a Smartphone

As of February, Nielsen reports that nearly half of the US residents with a mobile contract own a smartphone. In February 2011, the percentage of smartphone owners was just 36%.

EU and US Tablet Owners More Comfortable Paying for Content

Nielsen: iOS Popular with Handheld Gamers

According to new research at Nielsen, iOS devices upped total playtime by seven percent year-on-year between 2011 and 2012. The study also shows that iOS devices are very popular with handheld gamers.

Nielsen: Apple and RIM Lead in the US

According to Nielsen, RIM and Apple have been leading the smartphone market in the United Stated over the priod from November 2010 till February 2011. Both managed to get 27% of the market in that period.

28% of US phones is a Smartphone in Q3

According to the most recent numbers from Nielsen, 28% of US cellphones is a smartphone. Amongst those consumer that bought a new phone over the past six months, 41% chose a smartphone, up 35% compared to Q2.

According to research from Nielsen, Android is now officially the most popular OS among recent smartphone buyers in the US market. It has beaten both iOS and BlackBerry OS in August.

Nielsen: 27 Apps on Every US Smartphone

Nielsen has revealed that the average US smartphone has 27 apps installed. This average is mainly pushed up by Android and iOS where consumers have easy access to free apps and games.
