Hungrymobile Mobile companies around the world are trying to show us, that their AppStores are the best AppStores. Apple, Google, Nokia, Palm, Microsoft, and many other firms joined the AppStore hunt, and even mobile operators seem to be catching up slowly with preparations on similar launches. Now the question is, is this the future?

On Mobile Games Forum almost 2 months ago, there were big talks on things like mobile game rental, pay per play, paying for games normally – what is the best method, and what will stay on the market as the leader? Will it hurt the revenues? What about refunding policies of so called AppStores, where Google announced in their Android Market a 24 hour return policy for games? Where is this all leading?

Operators really, REALLY hate AppStores

iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Palm, and now even Nokia with its
OVI. If you say AppStore, then most operators content revenues and
moods probably start shivering. Why is that? They are afraid that the
“AppStore”s, lets call them, will hit their mobile content, primarily
mobile game revenues – a lot. And yes, it’s true – they will.
