Samsung Shows off Tizen Device

Following the recent release of the Tizen SDK’s, Samsung has now started to show off the first hardware running the new Tizen operating system. Tizen is based on Linux and originated from MeeGo (Intel and Nokia) and Bada (Samsung).

Intel and Samsung Present Tizen 1.0

Intel and Samsung have launched version 1.0 of the new Tizen operating system for smartphones. Tizen is a combination of MeeGo (once developed by Intel and Nokia) and Bada OS from Samsung. The whole system is based on the Linux kernel. Developers can start downloading the Tizen SDK’s, but have to realize there isn’t any Tizen hardware… yet.

First Intel Smartphone Ready for Launch

Intel-ceo Paul Otellini announced that the first smartphone running on an Intel based SoC is ready to launch next week. The device is probably coming from India based vendor Lava.

Microsoft and Intel Plan 32 Tablets for 2012

By the end of this year, Microsoft and Intel have planned to have 32 Windows 8 based tablets in the market. The tablets come from HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Asus and Toshiba.

Intel Unveils Studybook Tablet for Emerging Markets

Intel has unveiled its new Studybook tablet. The 7” 1024×600 tablet is developed for emerging markets. It is water and shock-resistant (up to 70CM), cheap and will be running Windows 7 or Android OS.

MWC: Intel Expands Smartphone Portfolio

Intel has announced new deals with vendors to develop smartphones and tablets based on Intel’s new System on a Chip line. Amongst them are operator Orange and paymentcompany Visa.

Intel Drops MeeGo for Tizen

Following partner Nokia, Intel has now announced it is to abandon the MeeGo platform as well. Instead, it will be working on a new mobile platform with Samsung that’s called Tizen.

Intel to Port Android to x86

Intel has announced it’s plans to port Android 3.0 to their x86 architecture. This will allow hardware vendors to build tablets and other hardware using Google’s open source operating system on Intel chips.

Nokia Competitors Line Up for MeeGo

Though Nokia is scaling down on both MeeGo and Symbian until it starts shipping the first Windows Phone 7 devices, competitors seem very interested in having MeeGo on their devices.

Angry Birds to Hit PSP, PS3 and Netbooks
