Google Play Adds Support for Czech, Israeli, Polish and Mexican Devs

Starting today, developers in Czech Republic, Israel, Poland and Mexico can sell priced applications and in-app products on Google Play, using their local bank accounts for payments. This move is part of Google’s effort to support more countries and currencies in Google Play.

Sony’s SmartWatch Hits the States

Sony has released its SmartWatch in the US. The SmarWatch is a followup to the SonyEricsson LiveView and allows Android phones to send updates to it. In return, the SmartWatch can be used as a remote for mobile apps.

LicenseMyCode, A new Source of Revenue

It seems there is a new source of revenue for mobile developers. The new project is called LicenseMyCode and allows developers to sell non-exclusive licenses to their sourcecode.

Unity Passes 1 Million Registered Developers

Unity Technologies, the provider of the well known middleware, announced that 1 million developers are registered to their services. On top of that, the engine and tools had over 6 million downloads to date.

Chinese Developers Bypass Google Play

Though many Android developers rely heavily on Google Play, those in China seem to ignore Google’s app store. Instead, developers prefer to deliver the .apk files direcly to the consumer.

Apple Blocks Apps that Request UID Access!?

According to rumours, Apple is no longer accepting apps on the App Store that require access to the UDID of an iOS device. Various developers reported the new Apple policy to Techcrunch.

RIM seems to do just about anything to spread their believe in the BlackBerry PlayBook. Following the launch of the support for Android apps on the device, Android developers can now get hold of a free PlayBook just by converting their Android app to the device.
