Nielsen: Android Most Popular OS in the US

According to research from Nielsen, Android is now officially the most popular OS among recent smartphone buyers in the US market. It has beaten both iOS and BlackBerry OS in August.

Verizon Adds Android Support to V Cast

Verizon has announced that the operator will be adding Android support to its own app store. Untill now, only BlackBerry developers could make use of this service.

RIM: 50 Million BlackBerry Consumers and Counting…

In the second quarter of 2010, RIM has sold 12.1 million BlackBerry devices (that is up 56% year-on-year). The company calculated it has 50 million registered BlackBerry users.

Nielsen: 27 Apps on Every US Smartphone

Nielsen has revealed that the average US smartphone has 27 apps installed. This average is mainly pushed up by Android and iOS where consumers have easy access to free apps and games.

BlackBerry Passes 10.000 Apps Mark

BlackBerry App World is growing up. Research In Motion’s app store has now passed the 10.000 apps mark in about 17 months time. BlackBerry App World opened up in April 2009.

RIM Acquires DataViz

Research in Motion (RIM) has acquired DataViz, the company behind Documents to Go. RIM has paid $50 million for the acquisition. The deal has not been confirmed by any of the two companies yet.

RIM Works on Better App World and Decreasing Revenues
