While we recently reported that cash reserves at Symbian had been drying up, the foundation now announced new funding coming straight from the good old European Commission.
Symbian received the funding as it was identified as a unique technology that is a vital focus for European-centric mobile software development. The foundation will use the funding for development of future versions of the Symbian operating system with a new consortium that Symbian will be part of with 23 other parties from different EU countries. The consortium will go by the name of Symbeose and its aim will be to make Symbian more interesting to Symbian’s stakeholders.
Congratulations
