Symbian Guru Reveals Ovi Details

March 5th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Distribution | No Comments »

Ovi
Last month, Nokia opened up on it's plans to roll out the Ovi store as a direct response to the App Store madness that is hitting our market these days. The team over at Symbian Guru managed to get more information on the subject.

Unlike the App Store (but much like all others), Nokia's Ovi store will only be a website. So no playing around with ignoring executables. Nokia also explains (though a bit cryptic) that the Ovi store will help to ensure that consumers can update their software.

Symbian Guru also asks Nokia about the global roll-out plans. As they state on their website, the US is still waiting for the Nokia Music service. Nokia explained that global billing is possible via creditcard and that localized operator and credit card billing will be available in Australia, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, UK and US. The Ovi Store will support Italian, German, Spanish, English and Russian languages.
