Steve Wozniak: Android Will Dominate

November 18th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: AndroidOS, Platforms: iOS | 1 Comment »

Steve Wozniak is in Holland to open the Science & Technology Summit in The Hague. During his stay, Steve took the time to have an interview with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

In the interview, Steve explains that Apple has been working on a mobile phone since 2004. The first models were too advanced and not easy enough to handle. The company held the introduction off until they had something they could amaze the world with. Steve explains that companies should develop new products outside the company to avoid developing them with the same thoughts as existing products are made in a company.

The reason the iPhone could amaze so many people was because there had been several technologic breakthrough’s Apple could monetize in one go. That included screen, memory and battery time. Nokia was too slow to anticipate on touch screens and is not associated with button phones according to him. He advices Nokia to come with a new brand to lose the reputation it has now.

Wozniak also said that Android will dominate the smartphone market like Windows does on the PC market. The platform also has similar problems to Windows in regards to quality and satisfaction. Consistency also seems to be a problem according to Steve but Android has the potential to become as good as iOS is today. When asked about the limitations iTunes puts on the platform, Steve agrees the iPhone is not the right phone for all consumers. Android does offer something for everybody.
