Sony: Vita OS Ready for Smartphones and Tablets

February 14th, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Playstation Vita | 1 Comment »

Sony has informed the press that the OS of the Playstation Vita (which launched in the EU next week) is flexible enough to run on both Smartphones and Tablets which could potentially mean Sony has built the OS as a potential replacement for Android. Sony also noted it had no plans to use the OS for phones or tablets at this time.

This news surfaced as Sony’s newest director Kaz Hirai talked with the press about the Playstation Vita. By his side was Yoshio Matsumoto from Sony Computer Entertainment that informed the press that Vita OS was based on the ARM architecture to enable the company to push the OS on alternative devices.
