Sony Restructuring Leads to 10.000 Layoffs

April 12th, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Companies & M&A | No Comments »

Sony’s recent restructuring announcements will mean a loss of jobs for 10.000 of its employees. Sony’s Kaz Hirai announced it will take the company 12 months to let the employees go.

Part of the job cuts will happen by selling of parts of Sony as a company. The actual employees are likely to remain active in their field for their new employers.

In regards to the key pillar ‘mobile’, all mobile operations will be integrated with the newly bought Sony Ericsson unit. The mobile unit will be responsible for (smart)phones, tablets and laptops.
