Smart Media Services, a Dutch SMS gaming company has been fined by a Dutch consumer authority for misleading consumers and so, overcharging them via premium SMS services.
The company lead consumers to websites like skilled2win.com and suggested that consumers had a good chance at winning big amounts of cash and other prices by playing the games they offered. They also made it appear like loosing was not an option.
To enter the lottery construction, they had to receive an SMS. By submitting their number, consumers got tied to an SMS subscription for a word game that had nothing to do with the website they where on.
The company has been fined
