Sharp is joining the tablet race with two Android based devices. One will be fitted with a 5.5” screen while the second is sold with a 10.8” screen. Needless to say, bigger is better.
The tablets are named ‘Galapagos’ and will launch with an eBook store that will carry the same name. The 5.5” tablet will have a resolution of 1024×600, similar to that of the BlackBerry Playbook that was announced only yesterday. The 10.8” version will have a resolution of 1366×800, which beats both the Playbook and the iPad. Interestingly enough, Android 2.2 officially supports screens up to 1024×600 so Sharp has probably modified the OS. The devices are expected to launch in December.
