SEGA to Launch Emulator on the App Store

January 21st, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | 1 Comment »

Sega Following the Commodore emulator of Kiloo, SEGA will now also start selling an emulator for their classic Master System on the App Store. In fact, the emulator will be free with one game, but the others will have to be purchased.

The creation of this emulator probably didn’t require too much time from the SEGA developers as SEGA was already rumored to use emulation to sell a part of their iPhone offering. This would mean that SEGA just separated the emulator from the content. The first games that can be purchased from within the emulator will range from $2.99 to $5.99.

I love the fact that Sega wants to offer an emulator, but $2.99 to $5.99? I can get a FULL WebOS game for that price! Who is going to pay that much? No one. They should sell a bulk plan where you pay per-year for all the ROM’s you want to play. This idea is already dead in the water.
