SCI, Owner of Eidos, has confirmed to be in talks about a takeover. In the past, rumours already exposed talks with Vivendi and Midway last year, but now it seems Time Warner is also interested.
Though SCI does not expose who they are talking to, a lot of gaming websites expose Time Warner as the most interested party for acquiring SCI. Time Warner has already licensed several titles to SCI and with that deal, also bought a 10% stake in SCI.
In the past year, SCI has done several acquisitions in the mobile arena where they bought Morpheme and Rockpool Games. Other recent purchases include SoGoPlay and Ironstone Partners. These acquisitions made Eidos a publisher with a foot in all platforms and so, interesting to be bought. With companies like Hasbro more and more interested in licensing titles to companies who can facilitate all platforms (hence, the licensing losses at Glu lately), the acquisition of SCI would be a great way for Time Warner to enter the (mobile) gaming market.
