Samsung has announced a new Open Source OS called Bada. The first Bada device is expected to hit the shelves during the first six months of 2010. To warm up developers, it announced that Bada will replace Symbian OS.
Full details about this new platform will be released in December along with SDK’s for the development community. With the release of the first Bada phone, Samsung will also start opening up an app store for the system. During the second half of 2010, it will be rolled out in thirty countries. Confirmed countries are France, Italy and the UK.
During December 09 and January 10, Samsung will be organizing developer events in several countries. From December till June, there will be a bada Developer Challenge that offers listing in the ‘Samsung Application Store’ amongst others. Needless to say, we just added a new category to MGB.
Though Samsung will not put any Symbian devices in its roadmap for 2010, the company’s SVP Don Joo Lee did announce the company's plans to keep supporting Windows Mobile and Android.
Congratulations
