RIM Improves Billing, Reduces Payouts

April 20th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: BlackBerry | No Comments »

RIM has changed the App World development agreement. Under the new agreement, billing seems to be improved while developers will be facing a lower revenue share in return.

The agreement allows RIM to add credit card billing as well as operator billing options to BlackBerry App World. With a larger mix of billing options, the payment process becomes more comfortable to consumers and at the same time, more expensive to RIM.

Those additional services would also justify why RIM is cutting revenue shares back from 80% to 70%. Developers will have to settle with an income decrease of 10% if they wish to stay on App World.
