RIM Acquired The Astonishing Tribe

Recently, The Astonishing Tribe managed to get the world’s attention with their demo video on how screens will function in our future lives. Today, the news reaches us that the company has been sold to RIM.

The Astonishing Tribe (or TAT for short) developed user interfaces for mobile devices. Their UI’s are installed in 500.000.000+ phones world-wide. The company housed about 175 employees and will be hiring 20 to 40 more over the next months. It will now work exclusively on new UI’s for RIM. The company was sold for several hundreds of millions Swedish Crowns.
