An employee of HTC Russia has leaked hardware requirements for Windows Mobile 7 on this Twitter. The requirements clearly show that new ‘Windows Phone’ devices are set to compete with the iPhone.
New Windows Mobile 7 hardware must contain the following;
- 1GHz Processor
- 8Gb Onboard Memory
- FM Receiver
- 5 Megapixel Camera
- 3.6″ WVGA Screen
- G-Sensor
- Compass
With these minimum specs, the new Windows Mobile devices will probably be offering just as much functionality as the current iPhone models. Sources say Microsoft also hopes to get a piece of the Augmented Reality market, but funny enough a GPS is missing from these requirements.
UPDATE – We now know the following;
- 4GB on-board memory minimum
- 2 screen resolutions (800×480 and…)
- GPS
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- 1Ghz Snapdragon CPU
- Screensize not specified
- No external memory
