PopCap Signs Merchandising Deal on Mobile IP

May 1st, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Brand Licensing | No Comments »

Following the success of Rovio with Angry Birds, PopCap Games has also entered into an agreement to create merchandising based on PopCap’s mobile IP. Though the deal was signed off on a large number of brands owned by the EA subsidiary, the most valuable brand in PopCap’s portfolio is without doubt the Plants vs. Zombies franchise.

PopCap has entered into merchandising agreements with Trends International, Bioworld Merchandising, Funko, MjC International, Jazwares and Walls360. The deals span both North America and Europe. The first Plants vs. Zombies products should be launching this spring.

“We’re taking a measured, deliberate approach to licensing our IPs, focusing on quality brand extensions that expand our unique game icons and experiences for our fans in authentic, meaningful ways,” said Brennan Townley, director of brand licensing at PopCap Games. “The partnerships we’ve announced today represent partnerships with some of the most highly regarded licensees in their respective categories.”
