Following several other platform releases by PopCap, the developer has now finally released Peggle as a mobile game.
“Peggle Mobile delivers an on-the-go gaming experience worthy of the award-winning Peggle franchise with a compelling translation that brings all the great action of the PC versions to mobile gamers everywhere,” stated Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development at PopCap. “Peggle Mobile raises the bar in mobile gaming, while being integral to PopCap’s strategy of providing AAA mobile titles to a range of mobile devices from cell phones, smartphones and PDAs to PocketPCs, iPods, iPhones, and more.”
Since its first introduction in March 2007, Peggle has been downloaded more than 20 million times on the Web, and garnered more than a dozen awards from leading industry associations and trade journals.
Peggle combines elements of pinball, pool and pachinko to create a completely different kind of game experience. The game challenges players to use skill, strategy and luck to clear progressively more difficult levels of orange pegs by firing a small silver ball from the top of the screen. Stationary and moving obstacles along with numerous power-ups and special effects combine with dynamically-assigned peg colors to make each level unique every time it’s played.
