Ever since I met the folks of PopCap games over at the CGA event in Amsterdam, their marketing activities have always been surprising me. Yesterday they surprised me again in regards to their new mobile game titled Bejeweled Twist.
Though the company always sends out great Flash Christmas cards and research publications by e-mail, we where surprised to receive a package by snail mail. Next to the press release, it contained a special mold for ice cubes. Instead of boring logo’s, this one was made to create ice jewels in full shape. A great and original incentive for a game so famous, it should pretty much market itself.
For those that know the title, Bejeweled Twist is not just a follow-up on the original Bejeweled game. It’s rather a mix of Bejeweled with Hexic. Players now have to create lines of at least three jewels by rotating blocks of four (2×2). They don’t have to make a match every move.
Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development at PopCap, said: “Bejeweled Twist is a milestone title in the mobile games category and offers something for everyone: novice players can pick it up and enjoy it immediately, while avid gamers will appreciate the depth of strategy, challenge and the overall flexibility in its gameplay.”
Though my addiction is still with the original Bejeweled (on my old Palm m515), this might be a worthy follow-up.
Does anyone know how to make a super nova in bejeweled twist?
I have tried everything but can’t get past 231,000 without it.
