After a lot of news from Playoo, a YouTube like service for mobile
games, the website finally announced to go Beta today after 4 months of
testing.
Playoo is all about user generated content in the form of free mobile games for consumers. The website is one big content discovery tool with a full feature-set like user recommendations based on the user’s behaviour and that of registered friends.
The Playoo website also harbours a game creation tool that allows users to create their own mobile games without prior knowledge over the platform. Social networking functionality will allow this new generation of game developers to discuss with each other.
Playoo is based on Flash Lite technology, meaning only the last generations of mobile phones will be able to fully use the service as Flash Lite support has always been a bit tricky on the first supporting models.
The Playoo site kicks off with a catalogue of 200 free mobile games. To stimulate game development, Playoo has reserved $ 25,000 in prize money for contests.
"We are thrilled to see a social network and interactive worldwide community being created by Playyoo that focuses on mobile games and Adobe Flash Lite," said Bill Perry, evangelist, Mobile and Devices at Adobe. "With the excitement around Flash Lite 3 and the support for Flash Player compatible video we expect the community to thrive even more with creative ideas and innovation."
Hi!
