Petition for Open Competition on the App Store

January 27th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

Codeminion Recently there have been a few stories where mobile games have been taken offline by Apple because a competitor filed a copyright infringement report, sometimes without clear proof.

In those cases, Apple took the game in question offline, but didn’t come to a clear resolution or conduct research to see if the claim is right. Codeminion, one of the developers facing such an issue, has created an online petition aimed at Apple to improve this process.

Needless to say, copyright infringement is a huge issue on the App Store and is a sign of failure to innovate. Yet, the current procedures at Apple allow competitors to pull nasty tricks on each other. This makes the petition worth signing by everybody.
