Though Palm’s WebOS SDK offered very limited possibilities for app and game development, the company has now announced their PDK, Plug-In Developer Kit which will change all that.
With the PDK, developers can mix C and C++ into their WebOS projects. By developing in a native language, developers can make better use of the WebOS resources and unleash the full potential of the OpenGL ES 2.0 possibilities of the device.
With C and C++ being used in many more smartphone platforms (i.e. Windows Mobile, Symbian and Brew), it will also mean that developer will have less trouble to port their existing portfolio to Palm’s platform and that could mean a huge step forward for the company.
