Palm has decided to disallow imported Pre’s access to the App Catalog. This software block comes with the 1.3.1 OS update that has been dispatched by Palm toward all Pre owners.
The blocking routines check the origin of the phone (probably based on some UID) and compares that to the network of the SIM card. When those two don’t match up, access to the App Catalog is prohibited. As a result, developers will be losing a part of the audience that is willing to invest in having an exclusive device and so, are probably happy to spend money on software.
Congratulations
