December 10th, 2007 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Companies & M&A | No Comments »

GuppygamesKorean Web 2.0 specialist NVLsoft has acquired US based mobile game developer Guppy Games, a publisher focussed on bringing South-Korean mobile games to the western market.

Over the past years, Guppy Games has successfully launched over 12 games on 20 operators worldwide.

“We see Guppy Games as the ideal partner to assist us in breaking into the US online and mobile market as they are very familiar with adapting Korean content for US audiences.  We are confident that together we can establish a presence in the US as a premier developer of customizable applications for top social communities.” says Jiwon Park, NVLsoft President and CEO.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for us to apply our knowledge and experience to the social networking business and to leverage NVLsoft’s advanced social network technologies into new tools that allow members of online and mobile communities to express themselves creatively.  They have an amazing product and I am thrilled to work with them to bring it to the US,” said Alex Choe, President and CEO of Guppy Games.

"I’m very confident that Guppy Games’ merger with NVLsoft will create outstanding synergy for both companies as they create the best social networking experience for customers hungry for new customization applications to express themselves." said Ike Lee, CEO of LTC and Venture Partner, of Ignition Partners.  Ike advised in the strategic planning of this acquisition.

Guppy Games will continue to work as it does today, but expand with a new division that develops community based mobile games based on technology from NVLsoft.
