NPD has announced that Android is the leading platform in the US. Google’s Eric Schmidt announced that the company is currently registering 200.000 new Android phones a day.
200.000 phones is more than double the amount that Google was activating at the start of 2010 and proves the success of the platform and the importance of Android games and apps to the industry.
According to NPD’s numbers, one third of the devices sold in Q2 have been Android based and by that, Android has taken the lead from BlackBerry (while Nielsen said BlackBerry is still leading).
