2008 seems the be the year of the OS. We've seen Symbian change hands, Symbian UIQ die, Android launch and hey, in the last second, good old Palm announces a new OS (which probably means they will ditch their old one).
On the next CES event, early January, Palm has announced that the first Nova supporting devices will be on display. Following the event, the devices should hit the shelves along the summer.
The change might be trivial to the survival of the company. Their PalmOS was split off a few years back and was traded in for Windows Mobile on a lot of the new devices. With Nova, the company hopes to launch an OS aimed at the market for cheaper smartphones. Rumours say that Palm only has enough cash for the next 1.5 years.
When it comes to technology, there isn't much information on the net. The only fact is that Nova will be based on Linux.
