The New York Times has started to offer other newspaper publishers the use of their Press Engine that should shorten development time for iPhone and iPad newspaper apps.
Press Engine will be ready for third party use as of the fourth quarter of 2010. The Dallas Morning and Providence Journal have already announced they will be using this engine. Press Entine allows on- and offline browsing of articles, article sharing, multi-media galleries, horizontal and vertical reading, search and standardized ad-blocks. Publishers that wish to use it will have to pay a one-time and monthly fee.
Congratulations
